The businesses that were one or two person operations were started by people disillusioned by working for someone else, they felt they could do it better and they could, but they couldn't market their services. Small business people know what they know very well, however, they can't communicate it and so they can't sell it. It's a different skill set. Margaret Pennyfather was educated at York University where she obtained an Honours BA in Urban Studies and Geography. Margaret found her studies in Demographics and Urban Behaviour are the basis of Business Marketing and Advertising and was able to successfully use the knowledge in her career.
Returning to York University with the Canadian Institute of Management with studies in Business Management, Margaret then obtained the Professional Designation of Certified Industrial Manager.
